Following the success of the Walk in Their Shoes tours of the Family Court of Western Australia, WA Family Law Pathways Network and the Magistrates Court of Western Australia are partnering for a Family Violence Restraining Order Walk in Their Shoes tour of the Perth Magistrates Court.
The FVRO: Walk in Their Shoes tour aims to help service providers understand their clients’ experience of applying for a Family Violence Restraining Order. Attendees can expect to gain knowledge and understanding of the court process and facilities, including an overview of the legal and other support services available at the Perth Magistrates Court.
These tours include a walk-through of the Perth Magistrates Court as it relates to the FVRO process; the PMC Registry, Family Violence Services (FVS) offices, Legal Aid WA Domestic Violence Legal Unit (DVLU) office, Sussex Street Community Legal Service (CLS) office, Applicant & Respondent shuttle conference rooms and Restraining Order Courtrooms, followed by a presentation by a Magistrate, and a Q&A panel with a Shuttle Conferencing Registrar, DVLU lawyer, Sussex Street CLS lawyer and FVS Family Violence Worker.
The tours run from 1.15pm - 4.30pm and are free of charge, however booking is essential as these tours are very popular and book out very quickly.
A strict limit of 15 attendees per tour will apply and we are only able to offer 1 ticket per organisation based on a first come first served basis.
If maximum numbers are not met, the limit will be lifted 2 weeks prior to the tour date. Registrations will continue operating on a first-come first-serve basis and if the organisational ticket limit is exceeded, the relevant attendees will be notified and placed on the waiting list instead.
The next tour scheduled for Thursday May 11 2023 will proceed as planned.
Please book your ticket here by COB Tuesday 2 May 2023.
*One ticket per person - each ticket must be assigned to an individual attendee.
