In October 2025, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, Minister for Social Services, announced proposed reforms to supports and services for families and children.

In response to feedback provided to Government, that a siloed approach to programs provides challenges in service delivery, they proposed changes to the following programs; Children and Parenting Support, Family Mental Health support services, Communities for Children Facilitating Partners, Family and Relationship Services and Specialised Family Violence Services.

Consultation was sought from the sector on how to best streamlines these services and this feedback will inform the final shape of the program. This consulation ended on 8th December 2025. Throughout the consultation period they received 241 submissions, 144 pulse survey responses and 722 attendees participated in online or in-person feedback activities.

Details of the final model and implementation timeline are expected in the next stage of policy development.
