Twilight seminar: Non fatal strangulation

WA Family Law Pathways Network and Stopping Family Violence present the following twilight seminar:

Non-fatal strangulation in sexual assault: a study of clinical and assault characteristics highlighting the role of intimate partner violence

Strangulation is the ultimate form of power and control, the abuser has control over the victim’s next breath; this has devastating psychological effects.

Dr Debbie Smith will present a recent study at SARC on nonfatal strangulation in sexual assault. The research provides quantitative data on the association of non-fatal strangulation in sexual assault by an intimate partner.

Research indicates an 800% increase in the likelihood of becoming a domestic homicide victim.
