Regional and remote circuit court sittings across Western Australia will resume from 3 August 2026, almost one month earlier than originally scheduled.

The earlier resumption follows the completion of training for additional Police Auxiliary Officers and the signing of an updated Memorandum of Understanding between WA Police and the Department of Justice, providing the security and custody arrangements required for circuit courts to operate safely.

Circuit court sittings were temporarily suspended from 1 June 2026 in affected regional and remote locations while improved security measures were implemented. During this period, alternative arrangements were put in place to support court users, including witnesses, victims and defendants.

The WA Government says the earlier reopening will help restore access to justice for regional communities while maintaining appropriate safety and security standards.
